Skydive for Maggie's - update
September 2011

Thanks to a weekend of decent weather, our remaining female daredevil, Laura McKechnie, finally managed to complete her solo parachute jump. As if a solo decent from over 3,000 feet wasn't scary enough, Laura had to first climb out of the plane and then literally hang from the underside of the wing before letting go. We still can't decide if Laura is either (a) brave or (b) completely insane, but after telling us she enjoyed it, we're thinking she might be a bit of both! Well done Laura - we're proud of you!

Skydive for Maggie's
August 2011

It was mission accomplished for four of our five fearless female daredevils as Leigh, Lauren, Hayley and Jenny completed their tandem parachute jumps in aid of Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres. Unfortunately Laura couldn't complete her solo jump due to worsening weather conditions, so we'll post a special update in due course. To date our daredevils have raised over £2,000 and donations are still coming in. Well done girls - we're all very proud of you!

Fleet Alliance Summer Party in aid of Maggie's
July 2011

As part of their fundraising campaign for a charity sky dive in aid of Maggie's, our brave daredevils arranged a summer party. With an acoustic set from EchoFires (who are fronted by our very own Carly Chisholm - a new recruit to the daredevil team) and plenty of prizes generously donated by local businesses, the night was a huge success. With £1,300 raised so far, and donations still coming in, it was a perfect way to raise money as well as the roof!

Skydive for Maggie's
July 2011

Demonstrating just how far we'll go to support Maggie's, five female daredevils will be leaping 10,000 feet from a perfectly good plane on Saturday 27th August 2011. Hayley McGhie, Lauren Sallows, Jenny McRobb, Leigh Meldrum will be performing a tandem jump whilst Laura McKechnie will be braving a solo jump. If you'd like to sponsor our five brave (but clearly insane) daredevils, please visit: www.doitforcharity.com/FAjumpformaggies

Dublin weekend
June 2011

As a reward for our hard work, we were treated to a weekend in Dublin. A Saturday morning tour of the city was followed by a visit to the famous Guinness factory then lunch in the Dublin Hills. That evening we enjoyed dinner in the luxurious Balzac restaurant before rounding off the day with drinks in Café en Seine. On Sunday we journeyed out to the fishing village of Howth and had lunch overlooking the harbour front, whiling away a stormy Irish afternoon with drinks before bidding farewell to the Emerald Isle. With drinks on the company the entire weekend, we returned very tired, rather fuzzy, but grateful for a fantastic weekend.

Brighton Raceday
May 2011

We recently treated a number of clients and Partners to a day at Brighton Racecourse. With a corporate box overlooking the finish line we were in the perfect place to see all our horses romping home in first place - or at least that was the plan. Suffice it to say we won't be challenging John McCririck for his jewellery any time soon! Though as sponsors we did get to hand out a few prizes which made us feel better. The day was rounded off with an evening of food and (lots of) drink - but the less said about that the better.

Maggie's Monster Bike and Hike 2011
April 2011

This year's event, our fourth as participants and first as Official Transport Partner, was full of firsts and personal bests. Jill Sidebottom hiked to her first gold finish alongside David Blackmore and Iain Boyle. Martin Brown and Martin Gray both ran to silver with first timer Michael Savage running to bronze and Lianne Still hiking to bronze and smashing her personal best in the process. Thank you to everyone for their generous donations, which so far have helped us raise over £11,000!

Mexican Night
February 2011

There was a distinctly Mexican flavour to Friday night as our Social Team hosted an office fiesta. Our atrium was full of a seemingly endless supply of Mexican food and drink, offering an authentic taste of South America. Of course, a Mexican night wouldn't be complete without a Piñata and needless to say after a busy week, the poor thing was given a sound beating - much to the delight of the crowd!

Nine members of the Fleet Alliance team donned their walking shoes to take part in the annual Glasgow Maggie's Life Walk. The team completed the walk in under two and a half hours. The terrible weather helped them shave more than an hour off last year's time. Thanks to everyone who donated.
